Algaecal – The Only Calcium and Mineral Complex Clinically Supported to Increase Bone Density
Algaecal Limerick is a unique calcium and mineral complex made from marine algae (Lithothamnion superpositum). The natural occurring mixture of bone-building nutrients also includes magnesium, potassium, boron, phosphorus, selenium, strontium and silicon.

Unlike rock-based calcium, Algaecal is clinically supported to stop bone loss and build new bone. Plus, it’s gentler on the body than most other calcium supplements.
Algaecal contains all 13 essential bone-supporting minerals that your body needs. This unique plant source calcium and mineral complex was the first – and still is the only – nutritional supplement clinically supported to stop bone loss and build new bone.
Our algae (Mesophyllum superpositum) naturally mimic the mineral composition of human bones, making it easier for your body to absorb and use. Plus, this algae is more easily digested than calcium sourced from rocks, which means your body can get the maximum benefits of every nutrient in each capsule.
In fact, a six-month study of people taking either AlgaeCal 1 or AlgaeCal 2 found both groups had higher increases in bone density than expected. In addition, the group taking AlgaeCal 1 had a greater increase in bone density than the group that took AlgaeCal 2.
The increased bone density found in this study was attributed to the unique mineral combination in each product. Compared to rock-based calcium, our organic ocean calcium has the added benefit of boron and magnesium that are critical for healthy bones. These ingredients also help reduce oxidative stress at the cellular level, further helping to increase bone health.
Another key ingredient in both products is vitamin D, which is crucial for the formation of new bone cells. While other bone-health supplements contain a low dose of vitamin D, AlgaeCal includes a potent 1,000 IU per serving to provide you with an optimal amount of this essential nutrient.
Lastly, both products include magnesium. Research shows that most Americans are deficient in this mineral, which is associated with a decreased ability to form and maintain strong bones.
Many drugs and illnesses can negatively affect bone health, including the increasing use of SSRIs for depression, antidepressants, and oral contraceptives. Furthermore, intentional and unintentional weight loss can deplete bone density, as demonstrated by the ten-fold increase in bariatric surgeries performed each year in America. This is why it’s important to include the best-in-class supplements for all your patients’ bone health needs. Guided by science and powered by nature, our global team is committed to providing premium supplements and the tools needed to help you support the health of your patients’ bones throughout their entire life.
Gentler on Your Body than Rock-Based Calcium
For over a century, the world’s most popular calcium supplements have been rock-based. But these rocks aren’t our bones’ best friend. In fact, studies show that rock-based calcium only slows bone loss – not increases bone density.
The reason is that the human body wasn’t made to absorb rock-based minerals – they aren’t digested very well. That’s why you need to take a supplement that uses plant-based calcium, like Algaecal. Algaecal is sourced from wild-harvested marine red algae (Lithothamnion superpositum). The ocean algae is then harvested and processed to remove the excess water – leaving behind a concentrated blend of plant-based, body-friendly nutrients.
Plant-based calcium is much easier for the body to absorb, and research has shown that it may increase bone density faster than other calciums. But that’s not the only benefit. Plant-based calcium is also a whole-food source of magnesium, manganese, boron, vitamin K2, and strontium, all of which are needed for healthy bones.
In addition to being gentler on the body, plant-based calcium is naturally chelated – a process that makes it easier for your body to absorb and use. This unique advantage over other types of calcium may help reduce the risk of osteoporosis, as well as other health conditions.
The best part about Algaecal is that it’s guaranteed to stop bone loss in 180 days or your money back! The only supplement on the market to make this claim, and it’s backed by a clinical study.
This guarantee is possible because of the unique way that Algaecal works to strengthen bones. First, the calcium in Algaecal is derived from a living algae that contains 13 bone-supporting minerals and a full dose of vitamin D. Then, a special form of calcium is added to the formula to improve absorption and increase bioavailability.
This is what sets Algaecal apart from the rest of the competition. It’s the only plant-based calcium that is clinically supported to stop bone loss and build new, strong bones – even in people over 60.
All 13 Bone-Supporting Minerals
Our unique plant-based calcium is clinically supported to stop bone loss and even increase bone density – compared to traditional rock-based calcium supplements. It’s sourced from a special species of ocean algae called lithothamnion superpositum and contains 13 essential bone-supporting minerals that are proven to work with Vitamin D. This powerful combination is endorsed by some of the world’s leading bone health scientists and doctors, and the product has been shown to improve DEXA bone scan results – in addition to being safer and gentler on the body than standard calcium carbonate and calcium citrate supplements.
Our formulas contain the plant-based form of calcium with a research ID of DN0361 (commercially known as ‘AlgaeCal’ or ‘AC’) that is sustainably hand-harvested from a pristine coastal shoreline in South America. This marine algae is gently washed and then carefully milled down to a fine powder that is free from chemicals or additives. It also contains all 13 bone-supporting minerals that have been clinically supported to support healthy bones – including magnesium, potassium, zinc, boron, phosphorus, manganese, vanadium, silica and more – along with Vitamin D3 to ensure proper absorption.
The multi-nutrient blend in AlgaeCal is the most effective mineral formulation shown to increase bone density in clinical trials – with a special emphasis on addressing the imbalances found in most diets. This includes the specific ratios of magnesium, potassium, boron and silicon that have been clinically demonstrated to provide significant bone-supporting benefits. It’s important to note that excessive consumption of any single mineral can drive out other critical nutrients like zinc and magnesium – so our natural blend of 13 key bone supporting minerals provides the correct balance for a safe and effective formula that’s clinically supported to stop bone loss.
These 13 bone-supporting minerals are combined with a full dose of Vitamin D3 to provide a complete formula that’s been clinically supported to build bones and is safer and gentler than rock-based calcium supplements. AlgaeCal is available to purchase starting this month at OsteoStrong’s membership-based wellness centers in Chagrin Falls, Ridgeland, Colleyville, Dallas and Greeley, CO, and at their in-center branded booths.
Full Dose of Vitamin D
Vitamin D obtained from sun exposure, foods, and supplements is biologically inert until it undergoes two hydroxylations in the body. The first, in the liver, transforms it into 25-hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D], also known as calcidiol. The second, in the kidney, converts it into the physiologically active 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D [1,25(OH)2D], also known as calcitriol.
25(OH)D concentrations are the best current measures of vitamin D status in people. They rise in response to increased intake, but the relationship is nonlinear. In addition, the amount of vitamin D needed to raise 25(OH)D levels above those associated with deficiency or insufficiency varies by age and other factors.
The FNB committee that established DRIs found that most people 1 year of age and older have adequate serum 25(OH)D concentrations, but 18% are at risk for inadequacy (levels below 30 nmol/L [12 ng/mL]). Four percent have concentrations higher than 125 nmol/L [50 ng/mL]).
In children, vitamin D deficiency manifests as rickets, a disease characterized by a failure of existing bone tissue to become mineralized, resulting in soft bones. Severe rickets causes bone deformities and pain, poor growth and development, hypocalcemic seizures or tetanic spasms, and dental abnormalities.
In adults, vitamin D deficiency may be characterized by osteomalacia, in which existing bone is incompletely or defectively mineralized during the remodeling process and leads to weak bones. In addition to osteomalacia, vitamin D deficiency is associated with a variety of health problems including cardiovascular disease and cancer.
